He kupu mō mātou
Te Tauraki exists to advance health and wellbeing for whānau Māori in Te Waipounamu through advocacy, commissioning, and monitoring.
As mandated by Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu, Te Tauraki is the Kāi Tahu entity with responsibility for the promotion of health and wellbeing aspirations within the takiwā of Kāi Tahu, amplifying the voice and needs of whānau Māori. Alongside this, we are a commissioning agency, contracting Whānau Ora service providers across Te Waipounamu.
Commissioning
Te Tauraki commissions hauora and wellbeing services designed to strengthen whānau Māori wellbeing across Te Waipounamu.
As a subsidiary of Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu, Te Tauraki brings established tribal connections, deep community understanding, comprehensive data insights, and robust organisational infrastructure. We are positioned to advance indigenous health approaches and holistic whānau-centred care models.
We are building long-term commissioning capability, preparing to support investment across wider determinants of health including rakatahi services, whānau wellbeing, and family violence prevention.
Our commissioning approach is driven by evidence and shaped by whānau voice. We commission services that advance whānau wellbeing outcomes. In practice, this means we invest in initiatives that create measurable impact and direct resources where the potential for transformation is highest.
Through sophisticated data analysis and deep community insight, we understand what works. Our region-wide perspective, combined with strong relationships across hauora, social services, and Iwi networks, enables us to advance solutions that have a real and long-term impact.
